Red Barn and Farm Animal Themed 2nd Birthday Cake

We created this second birthday cake for a barn yard animals themed celebration that was included a petting zoo. The 12 inch round cake, double chocolate sourcream with chocolate mousse filling, is topped with a 3D red barn made from cake, white sourcream filled with vanilla mousse, and covered in fondant imprinted with a wood pattern. We added a cow, pig, yellow ducks and a rooster to complete the scene.

This cake was extra special because Matt and Kate are the children of two friends of mine and I have done all their cakes starting with their baby showers. Kate's baby shower cake was the pink and green two tier cake that inspired the pink and brown baby shower cake that has become so popular online and with our customers. Her first birthday was the glittery cupKate tower which has inspired many cupcake designs over the past year. Matt's baby shower cake was a striped blue and yellow cake topped with chocolate baby blocks and baby booties. His first birthday cake was a red, yellow and blue cake for a Sesame Street themed celebration. Looking forward to their 3rd birthdays!
