Purple Birthday Cake Topped with Ribbon Roses

I created this cake for a friend's birthday - her 2 requests: purple and lots of chocolate! The cake is double chocolate sourcream cake, white chocolate mousse filling and chocolate buttercream icing. The cake is iced brown and decorated with white and 2 shades of purple.

We also created a cake for her previous birthday (again the request was purple and chocolate):

Leopard Print Jungle Animal Themed Baby Shower Cake and Cupcakes

We created this leopard print baby shower cake for a jungle animal themed baby shower. They wanted a mix of cake and cupcakes so we created monogram cupcakes to coordinate with the cake. The cake was decorated with a leopard print pattern and we added a monkey and giraffe to the sides of the cake.

4th Birthday Family Cake and Cupcakes for Preschool

Simply Sweets also created the family birthday cake and cupcakes for preschool for the race car birthday boy. For the cake we did a simple stripe design with a 4 on top. The cupcakes are mini cupcakes topped with a 4 - perfect for preschoolers when you want to limit their sugar during the school day.

Racecar Themed Cupcake Cake for a Hot Wheels Themed 4th Birthday

We created this large cupcake cake for a 4th birthday Hot Wheels themed celebration. The party was held at Busy Bodies in Glendale, AZ - my son attended this party and had a blast. Cupcake cakes are so great because they can be created with any number of cupcakes, can be made with a mix of flavors and are easy to serve!

Red Black and Gold Hollywood Themed 10th Birthday Cake

This is one of my favorite cakes from 2009 so I can't believe I haven't even posted it yet! Due to computer issues and being so busy making cakes we are behind in posting all of our creations but working on catching up.

This cake was designed for a Hollywood themed 10th birthday party. The girls were going to arrive on a red carpet, be interviewed by Joan Rivers (the birthday girl's older sister was playing this party), dress up, Oscar party favors, and watch some movies. The cake is designed with a long red carpet draped down the cake, film reel, lots of sparkly stars with a 10 on top to resemble a movie sign. The black boa was the perfect finishing touch!

Monster themed cake and cupcakes for a birthday

Our customer ordered this cake and cupcake combination to celebrate her husband's birthday - she delivered them to his work so he could share the cupcakes with coworkers and then save the cake for a birthday celebration at home. The monster cake was a fun one to create!

Chocolate Dipped Pretzels - Baby Shower Favor

We believe chocolate dipped treats make the perfect party favor - relatively low cost, don't add to your clutter, unique and tasty! These were ordered for a baby shower for a baby boy.

Pink Marshmallows and a Princess Castle

This is a 1 tier version of our very popular princess castle cake - 10 inch round which serves approximately 30. We also created a bouquet of chocolate dipped marshmallows sprinkled with pink for the table centerpiece.

Poker Themed Cupcakes for a Vegas Birthday Road Trip

These cupcakes were ordered for a weekend in Vegas to celebrate a 40th birthday for a poker fan. Cupcakes were ordered because these travel easier. The cupcakes are topped with the hearts, spades, diamonds and clubs. A few cupcakes were topped with red and black 40s. We used our new black and red cupcake liners to coordinate with the theme.

50th Birthday Package Cake

We created this package cake for a 50th birthday party. The cake was iced in her favorite color, blue, and we added gold and glittery white stars so that everything would sparkle on their table top which was going to be covered in lots of candles. Her favorite flower is roses so we added a few white ribbon roses on the side of the cake. Our package cakes are very popular for adult birthdays!

Design elements of this cake were inspired by our past creations including the Breakfast at Tiffanys bridal shower package cake and the 1st birthday shooting stars cake.

Little Digger Construction Themed Baby Shower Cake

We created this construction themed baby shower cake to coordinate with the Little Digger nursery theme. This cake was done in ivory, blue, red and yellows with a dump truck on top of the cake and tools on the side of the cake including a hammer, wrench and screw driver.

Black and White Zebra 6th Birthday Cake with Pink Boa

We created this 6th birthday cake in our popular zebra print design with ribbon roses and a pink boa - we delivered this cake to Sweet and Sassy in the Noterra Shopping Center, Phoenix.

This cake was inspired by a few cakes that we've done in the past - zebra print birthday cake and sassy circles with the pink boa.

Christmas Business Gifts

Finishing up with the holiday blog posts and I wanted to share 2 orders that were ordered as business gifts. The first was a gift baskets filled with peppermint crunch bark, chocolate dipped pretzels, chocolate dipped oreos, chocolate dipped peppermint sticks and a chocolate snowflake ornament. This basket was delivered to a business in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The second if a gift box of mini Christmas cupcakes delivered to a business in Tempe, Arizona. This order was placed by business associates in the Philippines - we can easily take orders through email and payment through paypal. We often take orders online locally, out of state and internationally - you may remember the princess castle cake that a soldier in Iraq ordered for his girlfriend in Phoenix.

Sweet Stuff Holiday Edition - Department 56 Village

I collect Department 56 Original Snow Village buildings and two of my favorites are food related - Sweet Shop and Cooking School. I'm hoping they'll come out with a cake and cupcake shop so I can add that to my collection.

Gingerbread Village at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge

I heard the pastry chef at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge created the largest gingerbread display in the Phoenix area so we decided to go check it out. It was a huge creative display with a large castle in the center, replica of many famous buildings surrounding it and a few trains moving around the display (my son's favorite part!). The gingerbread village is on display through January 3rd so there's still time to check it out. My favorite was the Taj Mahal - it was mostly constructed with white chocolate. Have you spotted any other local gingerbread displays?

Sweets Themed Christmas Tree

Over the past few years I've started to collect Christmas tree ornaments with a sweets theme - cupcakes, cakes, chocolate and candy. Some of my favorite sources of sweets themed ornaments include KMart (Martha Stewart collection), Target, Crate and Barrel and Sur La Table.

Since we're moving to a new larger storefront soon, next Christmas we'll display the tree at the Simply Sweets Shop. My collection is growing so I might have to upgrade to a larger tree and I'm thinking about maybe a pink one instead - what do you think?

Still on a search for the perfect tree topper - I've been searching for a cupcake tree topper but haven't found one yet.

Red and Aqua Snowflake Cupcakes

We created a small cupcake tower of holiday mini cupcakes and a tray of chocolate dipped oreos for a Sip and Shop event at Urban Kidz in Scottsdale - the event benefited the Tonya Allen Foundation.

While I was in the shop with my camera, I decided to snap a few shots of things that caught my eye - LOVE the zebra print infant shoes, the red and aqua funky holiday outfits (coordinates with my cupcakes), and the sassy Christmas stockings.

A few weeks ago, we participated in Night of 100 Stars put together by Urban Kidz - they've posted some great photos of the kids from the event on their website. check it out!

Monogram Stockings Sugar Cookies

Our monogram stocking sugar cookies were very popular this year. Some were ordered as gifts, party favors, and I made one for my own son which was quite a hit when he saw the B on it just for him:

Western Themed 60th Birthday - Red Bandana Print

This cake was created for a western themed 60th birthday celebration. The cake was iced with a red banadana pattern with a rope border and topped with a red and brown 60. This cake design was inspired by the 60th birthday western themed Cactus Jack Birthday Cake we did a few years ago.
