tea party

There are so many great party themes for little girl's birthday parties. This cake was made for Shaylen who is turning 6. All the girls were to come dressed in their favorite party dress and arrive ready for a tea party. Shaylen's mom had the table all decorated ready for the girls including lace gloves and their own fans.

Happy Birthday Shaylen!

Happy Valentine's Day

Since its Valentine's Day I thought I'd post some creations that I made for the MOMS club quarter auction - all proceeds from the auction went to the West Valley Crisis Center. The WVCC is a great organization that provides temporary shelter for children who have removed from their homes because of abuse or neglect. Part of their funding comes from the state and the rest comes from private donations. Our MOMs club has been collecting slightly used children's clothing to donate and held this event to raise money for the center.

I made three things for the action 1) Valentine white chocolate bark in a Valentine pail 2) heart shaped boxed filled with 25 individually wrapped chocolate covered oreos 3) large basket filled with Valentine goodies including chocolate covered oreos, chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate dipped dipped fortune cookies, I LOVE YOU chocolate bars and a chocolate lip shaped box filled with chocolate Xs and Os

Its official!

I've decided to open my own business, Simply Sweets, specializing in custom chocolates and cakes. The first phase of my business will be chocolates but I hope to add cakes soon. My long term goal is to have my own shop and in addition to cakes and chocolates I'd like to host decorating parties for kids. Its going to take some time to get ready to open for business with many things to do from applying for a business license, website design (www.simply-sweets.com), product development and pricing, to finding kitchen space. Keep checking the blog to follow my progress, look for announcements of our grand opening, and later to hear about new products and blog specials to receive discounts on Simply Sweets creations.

After many years of taking lessons and lots of practicing its time to start my business. My last day with Nanogen was January 31st and while I'll miss all my great coworkers that I worked with for over 8 years, I'm very excited about my new sweet adventure. I want to say thank you to the Nanogen family for the flowers wishing me sweet success and all the great emails.

So that I can focus on starting and running the business, Nicole, our au pair, is extending her stay through December to continue to help take care of Brendan. Speaking of Nicole, she recently celebrated her 21st birthday so I made her a cake in her favorite color, PINK.
