A change from the pink and purple girl themed cakes, January's popular cake theme has been cars.

The first cake was for a surprise 40th birthday party for a man whose favorite car is a Porshe. The car is made from dark chocolate. Cake is chocolate sourcream with 2 layers of chocolate mousse and 1 layer of raspberry mousse. Decorations are done with buttercream and fondant. The sign and happy birthday plaque are done using edible images.

The next 2 cakes are cupcake cakes. The first was for a boy celebrating his 12th birthday. The mom is placing Hot Wheels race cars on the track. The second is for a first birthday celebrations to coordinating with a Cars the Movie theme. Cupcakes cakes can be made in any size - the 12th birthday is 24 cupcakes and the first birthday is 30 cupcakes. They're easy to serve - just lift and pull to separate.
