April Showers Bring May Flowers Inspired Birthday Celebration

We created this cake for two sisters who both have birthdays in April. They wanted a very girly cake with lots of daisies, pearls and swirls in Spring colors including pink, purple, yellow and green. The design was inspired by a cake they found on the Flickr which we modified to fit for a birthday theme, a larger size to accomodate all their party guests and iced with buttercream with fondant accents instead of an all fondant (very popular feature of Simply Sweets to our customers is that we iced with buttercream using a faux fondant technique). The cake is a single layer 11 inch tier topped with a two layer 7 inch tier. We used a small cake board so that cake could be placed on the bed of grass which was topped with flowers and a pink parasol. We delivered this cake to Scottsdale - the second cake we have done for this family, the first was one of my favorites: red and white candy cane cake.
